I have a Dell Inspiron laptop with a blown-out motherboard, and I am unable to access the hard drive by using an SSD enclosure and connecting it to my desktop, as BitLocker is activated. I have two Microsoft IDs that are linked to the laptop as devices, and they are the only ones with Key IDs and the 48-digit BitLocker recovery key. The Key IDs and recovery keys on both IDs are identical. However, when I try to open the hard drive as an external drive from the desktop, it demands the BitLocker recovery key, but the Key ID is different from that stored in my Microsoft IDs. Data Recovery in Bitlocker Encrypted Drive

Today my home laptop system asked for bit locker password after booting up (before login). Bit locker encryption was not enabled by me. However, to make the computer usable, C drive was formatted since there was no critical data in C Drive. However D Drive is still encrypted.



Kindly confirm

1. Can Bitlocker Encryption be enabled without intervention of the user?
   
2. Where to find the bitlocker encryption key?
   
3. How to recover the Data in Encrypted D Drive?

I suggest you to perform below mentioned steps to disable BitLocker.

To disable BitLocker I would suggest you try the following steps and see if it helps.

• 
  Press Windows key + X and click on
  Control Panel.
  
• 
  Change View by from Category
  to Large Icons/Small Icons.
  
• 
  Click on BitLocker Drive Encryption and click on
  Turn BitLocker Off.
  
• 
  Follow on screen instructions. Click on Decrypt the Drive
  when the message appears.

Bitlocker Drive Encryption

Recently I was attempting to encrypt my drive with bitlocker because windows was suggesting to encrypt them via the security page when logging into my account. Though, when I do attempt to encrypt them with bitlocker it states that my drive is already
encrypted via bitlocker. I was wondering if there was a different way that it needs to be set up because I was hoping to add the extra layer of security to my drives with bitlocker encryption and password protecting them via a recovery key.
