Is there a way to select onscreen texts, like in Notepad, to read outloud with W10's Narrator?

I can't seem to find a way to do this. I don't want Narrator to read everything on my screen like dialog boxes! I just want it to read my select/highlighted texts in Notepad, Word, web browsers' web pages, etc. I can do this easily in macOS and iOS.Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :

Narrator reads text only from Notepad++ but not from Windows 10 own text editor!?

Hi, my windows version is Microsoft Windows 10, Version 1511 (Build 10586.164).

How can I make narrator to read text not only from Notepad++ but also from Windows own text editor?

    This is what I do:

    *** 1 ***

    <WinLogo>+<Enter>, activate narrator

    *** 2 ***

    Mark text window, then <Capslock>+<D>

    *** 3 ***

Text in a Notepad++ window will be read completely

    *** 4 ***

Text in Windw 10's own text editor will not be read, just the top menu of the window, nothing else

Is this not very strange! How can I make Windows 10 read also text from its own editor?

    Thanks,

P.S. I have the latest Windows Updates

P.P.S. Narrator on my ancient Windows XP PC had no problem with that, it could even read emails to me!

  3. Can Narrator read a selected paragraph on a browser?

I found that Narrator can read aloud paragraphs in Word, Notepad, etc by using the keyboard shortcut: Narrator + Shift + Down arrow. But not on a browser. I wonder if there's some way to make it selected
    paragraphs on a browser too.

    Any help much welcome.

Narrator reads text only from Notepad++ but not from Windows 10 own text editor!?

    Hi and thank you!

Please note that Notepad++ is NOT a default Windows application, see
    https://notepad-plus-plus.org/

but narrator reads from it without any problem!

And editor is a (default) windows application and narrator does not read from it!

Does this not look like a bug, at least in the Windows 10 version I am using?

    >Please refer to the below help article for narrator on Windows 10:

    >Caps Lock + F1 will let you view all commands.

    >Caps Lock + M will start continuous reading from where you are.

Thanks, I knew this link, tried all keyboard shortcuts. ONLY <Caps Lock>+<D> will work with reading, NOT <Caps Lock>+<M>, and ONLY with Notepad++ and NOT with Windows Editor

Is there anything else I could do?

    Thanks,
