Is there a way to stop File Explorer switching to navigation tree on the sidebar?

Basically, every time you switch to another folder, sidebar scrolls all the way down, and highlights the disk the files are on, in the navigation tree.

As I use Quick Access for like 80% of the navigation, and use navigation tree 0% of the time, this behaviour is incredibly disrupting - any way to disable it?

Basically, I want File Explorer to not do anything at all in the sidebar while I switch folders.

  2. how to display entire tree in windows 10 file explorer folder pane WHEN THERE IS NO NUMBER KEYPAD

    Hi Ali,

The navigation pane in File Explorer may not be set to show all folders and libraries that's why it doesn't show the entire tree when you expand it. It also possible that some files, folder, and drives may also be hidden that's why you're unable to see it
when you expand a specific folder. To address this issue, please follow these steps:

    1. Open File Explorer.
    2. Click View from the Main Menu.
    3. Click Options > Change folder and search options.
    4. Click the View tab, then under Advanced settings list, tick or check the following items:
      • Files and Folders > Hidden files and folders
        • Show hidden files, folders, or drives.
      • Navigation pane
        • Expand to open folder
        • Show all folders
        • Show libraries
    5. Click Apply, then OK.
    6. Close and relaunch the File Explorer and see if the entire folder pane tree will show when you expand it.

If you have additional questions, or if the issue persists after the performing the steps above, please let me know by replying to this thread. This way, I'll get notified and respond back to you as soon as I can.

    Regards.

  4. Is there a way to stop File Explorer switching to navigation tree on the sidebar?

Is there a way to collapse "redundant" folders in file explorer?

    HI Dillyjb97,

The Navigation Pane Tree of your File Explorer is designed to work as how you have described it on your post. It doesn't have an option to expand the items in Folder 1/Folder 2/Folder
3 view. However, you may enable some options on your navigation pane to automatically show the folders within a folder without having to double click it. Just click the drop-down option on the Navigation Pane and tick the other three options as shown
    in the photo below:

You may also set the single-click option to open an item in your File Explorer. Here's how:

    1. Open File Explorer and navigate to View > Options > Change folder and search options.
    2. Under the General > Click items as follows, tick the
Single-click to open an item (point to select)
      .
    3. Click Apply, then OK.

If the above options won't work for you, then you may send this as a suggestion through our
Feedback Hub. This way, our software engineers will be able to look into your suggestion. Please follow the steps provided in Send
feedback to Microsoft with the Feedback Hub app
    to submit your suggestion.

Please let me know if you need further information.

    Regards.
