Pretty much as the title says. I like to have things in windows, not full screen. I've tried searching many sites but so far been unable to find any correct setting.

I don't want to get rid of the border entirely, I just want it to always be displayed. Then there is no random gap.

    Examples here.

  2. That one focus border.

    Hello,

I'm sorry to bother everyone about this issue that has been discussed so many times before, but I tried looking around and I wasn't able to find any proper solution.

So there's this issue with the focus border appearing on unfocused items in explorer, for example desktop icons

    Explorer icons

On desktop, it's much more annoying because focused icons show full names, and so you always have this one annoying icon sticking out

Granted, it only happens if the desktop is in focus (or explorer window), but it usually doesn't happen, only in a few rare instances in Windows 7 and 10.

The most common "fixes" I've seen are refreshing the desktop (doesn't work, because as soon as desktop is in focus, that exact same icon gets the border treatment again), clicking away from the icon (how do people not realize this isn't the usual focus selection), this.. thing, hiding desktop icons, deleting System32, not using Windows ever again, etc.

Don't get me wrong, that border is definitely useful if you're only using your keyboard, and you have no idea what icon have you selected last time, but Windows should be smart enough to realize that clicking, with your mouse, means that you don't intend to use keyboard for navigation.

So, what I want to know is how to hide that border, without restarting, and make sure it doesn't show up again.
I don't want to just restart my system, because that would just delay the inevitable.. I know that annoying guy will show up again, stronger than ever.

    Thanks in advance

  3. Active Explorer Box Border Not visible After 1809 Update

The 1px Border in 1809 is White, same as the Titlebar, if you haven't Enabled the Option for Coloured Titlebar/Border. So on a Window with a White background, such as File Explorer, you don't really see the 1px Border when the Window is 'Active'. When 'Inactive' the 1px Border disappears entirely.

This is why many people have been asking for a way to disable the 1px Border. It's a PITA.

I don't mind the 1px Border being White, but i'd like a way to set it the same for Active and Inactive so that the Border is just there all the time, rather than coming and going.

  4. Is there a way to stop hiding the 1px border when a window is not in focus?

1px border is still active around apps after turning the off.

hi there I'm on windows 10 version 2004. I noticed 1px border is active around apps even though I have title bars and borders turned off in the settings app. I used to have similar problem on version 1903, except it goes away when tick title bars and borders on
and off. Please how do I solve this issue?

Is there no way to have no 1px border but have coloured title bars?: I hate this about Windows at the moment.
