Windows 10: Is there a way to turn off power to a specific usb port when screensaver activates?win10

So i got these coolio amazon basic usb speakers and well..they have very annoying bright led lights.....the instructions say to unplug them to disabled the lights *roll eyes*.....is there a way i can disable power to the specific usb port whenever my screensaver activates so at bed time they will just go off?

Hi Frank,

Inserting and removing a USB device repeatedly may cause the USB port to stop responding. When the port is in this state, it no longer recognizes any USB device, and the USB device will not work.

Here are few things that you can do to resolve the issue:

Use Device Manager to scan for hardware changes. After your computer scans for hardware changes, it might recognize the USB device that is connected to the USB port so that you can use the device.

To scan for hardware changes, follow these steps:

• Click Start, and then click Run.
  
  Note If you are running Windows Vista, click Start, and then use the Start Search box.
• Type devmgmt.msc, and then click OK. Device Manager opens.
• In Device Manager, click your computer so that it is highlighted.
• Click Action, and then click Scan for hardware changes.
• Check the USB device to see whether it is working.

Turn off Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

• In the Device Manager dialog box, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers, right-click USB Root Hub, and then click Properties.
• In the USB Root Hub Properties dialog box, click the Power Management tab. Uncheck the
  Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power
  box.

Win10 Disable specific USB ports

I have a light up mouse and speaker but when i power down my PC the lights still function.

Now i know you need to go to your BIOS and choose a diffrent setting but as i only want to turn off the power from specific USB ports that is not the option im looking for.

I suspect this is a software problem and hope this can be solved.

Saving the power to USB ports

HI Michele, follow the steps to prevent Windows from turning off USB devices:

- Press and hold Windows + R keys to open Run box

- Type in devmgmt.msc and lick on Enter

- Double click on the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" branch

- Double click the "USB Root Hub" device

- Tap on "Power Management"

- Remove a checkmark next to "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

- Click on ok button

Please do the above steps on either each USB root hub or do it only for the USB ports that you want to be on.
