Windows 10: Is there a way to unlock HDD Drive that's locked by Bitlocker without key?

Hello, after updating my laptop from Windows 10 to Windows 11 HDD drive D: is locked by Bitlocker.Previously i didn't had Microsoft account, i used only my gmail account. I didn't use Bitlocker at all.While updating to windows 11 i formatted only the C: drive, where Windows 10 was installed.I created new mail and Microsoft account at the first start of Windows 11. After finishing the setup I saw that D drive is Locked, and to unlock it i need to have 48 digit key, that i don't have.I didn't save any file anywhere, i didn't prepared no usb key, i didn't knew this bitlocker thing was active in

I have a problem with my HDD "D" Hard drive that is locked by a BitLocker and when I enter the recovery key to unlock it, it not responding. So what should I do??

This is a Seagate external expansion hard drive (1 Terrabyte). I never had any issues with the drive until yesterday when I disconnected and reconnected it. At that point the Locked symbol showed up. I am told that I need to provide a password or recovery
key to unlock the bitlocker. I did not put the bitlocker into effect. Therefore I do not have a password or recovery key code to unlock it. This is a Microsoft software caused issue.

I spoke to a tech person from Seagate who told me this is an unsecured external drive with no encryption and that I needed to speak with Microsoft about unlocking the drive.

I did shut down the computer as you suggested and the drive still has a locked symbol.

I appreciate your help on this. If I cannot get the drive unlocked I will have to speak to a Microsoft tech person for $50 about a problem that Microsoft caused. Not good...

Do you have any other suggestions?

Unable to unlock USB drives encrypted/locked with Bitlocker To Go

Hey All,

Recently my company provided me with a Windows 10 SOE image as part of a UAT. The image includes Symantec Endpoint Encryption which utilizes Bitlocker for encryption.

I went through all of the motions with the C:\ drive to be encrypted and even printed the recovery key. Well, at some point I plugged in a few My Passport USB drives and they became locked by Bitlocker To Go. Everytime I try to unlock or click on these drives it asks for the 48-bit key which I don't have because I never was prompted to encrypt/lock these drives.









IT says that there are no keys stored on the servers for these USB drives and suggested that this would be a "local" encryption. However, they also stated that they wouldn't be encrypted unless I was prompted about it. So, there's this mystery about how these USB drives came to be locked.


I've been doing some research and the closest I've come is getting some output about the protectors:

I've tried all of the passwords (even blank) I have in an attempt to unlock the drive:

When I search my laptop by either the Numerical or External IDs, I get nothing even with hidden files enabled.

Can anybody provide any recommendations here? I can always provide any additional info. Should I also post in the MS forums?

There's so much data on these drives that I cannot loose.
