Windows 10: Is there actually a block ad program that will stop pop up ads on your computer?

Pop up ads often come overtop of a text I am trying to read. Is there a program/app that actually stops them? I have tried a few of them and they didn't work very well. If there is such a thing, is there a free one?Any help will be appreciated.Thank you.

Ad-Block pop ups

I am running W10 and using Edge. I have installed Ad-Block basic. Can anyone tell me how to stop the extremely annoying pop ups (every 20 seconds) wanting me to upgrade to Total Ad-Block...? Like most of these software companies they have no phone number and an email contact service which never get answered. I am thinking of uninstalling it as the ads less actually annoying..!

Don't bother with Total Adblock you probably getting annoying popups from it, from what i can tell it has a premium service and it says stuff like "get unlimited ad blocking" basically this means there will be a threshold of some sort and once you go over that the buy premium ad pops up and possibly the extension stops blocking ads. This sort of stuff is pup like in nature and unwanted garbage. As the other person said uBlock is good. This one is also good Adblock Plus - Wikipedia and has been around for nearly 20 years. I use both and have used ABP for nearly 20 years too and its tried tested and trusted because it works.
