Windows 10: Is there an alternate key I can use other than ESC to for startup menu during boot-up?

I have a computer running Windows 7 from 2002 AMD FX-6200 processor that always says "Press the ESC key for Startup Menu" when booting up not sure why. It's not a big problem because I always choose to continue startup as usual from the list, but I have trouble getting the ESC key to be recognized even when I press it repeatedly constantly during boot. In the past it often took several attempts to get past the initial screen but now I have been unable to get past this screen using the ESC key after many, many tries. Is there any other key or method I can use to get past this first scre

No startup boot menu

As an initial recommendation, I would suggest you to access the System configuration utility and check if the Operating System installation path for Ubuntu exists. To do so, follow the below steps.

• Type msconfig in the search bar and select System Configuration from the search results.
• Select the boot tab in the System configuration console to check if the installation path for Ubuntu exists.

If it exists, next logical step is to check if the boot menu time out has been set to 0, which results in Boot menu not showing up.

The boot menu time-out determines how long the boot menu is displayed before the default boot entry is loaded. It is calibrated in seconds. To change the boot menu time-out, use the Bootcfg
/timeout switch. Valid values are from 0 through 999. You cannot use Bootcfg to set an indefinite time-out.

You can run the following Run command line to set the boot menu time-out accordingly. To do so, follow the below steps.

• 
  Press Windows key + X, select
  Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command prompt
  
• 
  Type in the following command: bootcfg /timeout 10
  
  timeout 10 will set the time frame to 10 seconds
  

However, if the Boot path for Ubuntu does not exist in the boot menu of System Configuration utility, I would suggest you to check if the Ubuntu is overridden by the Windows installation or if the Ubuntu installation files are corrupted.

Never heard of using the Esc key to open the Start menu. Try the Windows key.

 

Windows 10 Boot Menu access hot key?

With an Asus N56JN, I'm trying to boot into the advanced set up menu using a hotkey.

I've done it once successfully with ESC but I'm not able to reproduce it.

I've disabled fast boot and secure boot. and can access the menu by booting into Windows 10 and then restarting from the settings menu but I'd like to be able to go directly into advanced startup using a hotkey.

The manual implies either F2 or ESC should do the trick but doesn't indicate exactly when to hit the key.

Additionally, I've replaced the original hard drive with an SSD so boot times are much faster maybe giving me a tighter window for hitting the key?

Any suggestions for the procedure are appreciated.
