Windows 10: Is there an app that will disallow my Win10 desktop from "sleeping" ?

I sometimes run my desktop overnight, copying from our network here at work.

I've had issues where I've come in next morning and the desktop has put the network to sleep and put the USB drives to sleep to conserve power and that has stopped the copy.

Is there an App or something that can sit in my tray and disallow my computer from power saving or sleeping?

(I have turned off USB power management in the device manager, and the network adaptor, but for some reason some little thing is sleeping and halting my copying process. I'd just like to know if there is an App available.)

Thank you for your response.



We would suggest you to perform these steps and check.



Step 1: Turn off Preview pane in Windows Explorer

1. Open File Explorer, Click on View tab.
   
2. Click on Preview option to hide or close
   
3. Click on Desktop from the Navigation pane. Then try deleting the file.

Step 2: Check the default PDF application

1. Press Windows + I key to launch Windows Settings.
   
2. Click on Apps and select Default apps from the left pane.
   
3. Now scroll down and click on Choose default apps by file type.
   
4. Scroll and look for .pdf, .pdxml, and .pdx file type, then click on the + sign to change it to Edge.
   
5. Then close Settings and try deleting the file.

Step 3: If the default app for PDF is Adobe Reader.

1. Open Adobe Reader. Go to Edit.
   
2. Choose Preferences.
   
3. From the Categories on the left, select Security (Enhanced).
   
4. Uncheck the Enable Enhanced Security option.
   
5. Try deleting the file

after putting my desktop to sleep the mouse and keyboard are no longer active

Outdated drivers may be one of the possible causes why your mouse and keyboard is not working after putting your desktop from sleep. To assist you better, we'd like to gather more information:

• Have you made any recent changes prior to this issue?
• Have you tried updating your drivers?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

In the meantime, we suggest that you check for the latest update for the drivers.
