  1. Is there an easy way to make Windows FULLY start automatically after a major update?

First off, this isn't a rant about Windows forcing updates, I'm not looking to disable updates or anything like that. I have a PC I use as a server. I store most of my files there, it runs Plex, backs up to cloud, etc, etc. Today I tried to use my Plex client, and it couldn't find the server. So I remote desktop into the server and it's sitting at the "Let's get started" or whatever screen telling me about new features in the latest update which it apparently installed last night. I have no problem with that, EXCEPT none of my programs started, including Plex, until I dismissed that screen. One mouse click and everything's good again, but...

Is there a way to tell Windows to start everything automatically after an update? I think I've already got it set to auto-login, but I could be wrong because I only use remote desktop to access it, I don't even have a monitor hooked up. It definitely didn't start to load my startup programs until after I dismissed the update screen.

    Thanks

    Vista Automatic Updating Error

    Resolution Suggestion:

    # To resolve this problem, make sure that BITS and the Automatic Updates service are started..

A simple solution but one that works in most circumstances!

    1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

    2. In the list of services, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Properties.

    3. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.

    4. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

    5. Right-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service, and then click Properties.

    6. In the Startup type list, click Manual, and then click Apply.

    7. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.
