Is there any possibility of ethernet frames capturing in windows 10?

I am currently working on implementing IEC 61850 GOOSE, IEEE 802.1q, publisher and subscriber under a Windows environment. The GOOSE transmits within the OSI layer 2, meaning I must capture the Ethernet frames. However, I have found that WinPcap is no longer supported after Windows 8, and Npcap requires a commercial license, which makes these two libraries unusable for my purposes. I have been unable to find any other libraries suitable for my needs. Should I change the OS to Linux if it is not achievable in Windows? If anyone has any suggestions or ideas for the implementation, I would greatly

    :)

  2. windows 10 snippit capture

    Hi David,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community and being a part of Windows 10.

I understand the inconvenience you are facing in accessing screen captures obtained from snipping tool. We will help you with this issue.

Do let us know if the issue is confined to any specific capture that you have obtained?

This issue might have occurred due to corrupted system files. Try the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to run SFC scan and check if it helps.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. If a
Windows Resource Protection (WRP) file is missing or is corrupted, Windows may not behave as expected.

    Follow the below steps:

    • Right click on the Start button, click on
      Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes and hit
      Enter.
    • After the scan, restart the computer and check for the issue.

Step 2: Also, I suggest you to install all the pending updates on Windows 10.

    • Connect to the internet.

    • Press Windows
      key and type updates.

    • Click on Check for updates.

    • Under Windows Updates, click on
      Check for updates.

    • Try to install the updates being shown.

Hope it helps. Kindly update the status of this issue, we will be happy to help you further.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Is there any possibility of ethernet frames capturing in windows 10?

IP configuration not valid - interference from ethernet adapter?

Solution 1: No Internet Access In Windows 8.1or Windows 10

    Step 1:

Go to Device Manager → Network adapters.
    Step 2:

    Expand it (Network adapters).

    Step 3:

    Select your network adapter

    Step 4:

Right click on your wireless network adapter or Ethernet adapter and then tap “Update Driver Software”.
(in this case your network adopter is Ethernet adopter so tap your Ethernet adapter)
    Step 5:

Now on a new window you will need to click on “Browse my computer for driver software”.

    Step 2:

Just go on hitting the enter after typing the each command.
netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disable
netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled
    Step 3:

Now to check if the settings are disabled type:
    netsh int tcp show global
    then hit enter.
    Step 4:

Now the thing left is just rebooting your system and just check if the problem is solved or not and just give feedback.*chuckle*Thumbs
