Is there any safety or security concern when using visual basic 6 IDE on Windows10 / 11 ? If so what are they? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/visualstudio/visual-basic-6/visual-basic-6-support-policyThe visual-basic-6-support-policy discusses much about support for the VB6 runtime. I would like to know the security status of Visual basic 6 IDE. As the VB6 runtime is supported by microsoft, the vb6 apps which runs using them are safe and secure? Is it safe to use the VB6 IDE to develop and use VB6 apps on Windows10 and 11.

    :)

How to install Visual Basic 6 on windows 11? It got stuck towards the end.

    Hi,

I am R. Cord, Independent Advisor.

I hope you are doing well.

it is still possible to install it using compatibility mode, since Visual Basic 6 is not supported by Windows 11.

The Visual Basic team is committed to "It Just Works" compatibility for Visual Basic 6.0 applications on the following supported Windows operating systems:

    Windows 11

    Windows 10

    Windows 8.1

    Windows 7 SP1

    Windows Server 2022

    Windows Server 2019

    Windows Server 2016

    Windows Server 2012 R2

    Windows Server 2008 R2

    Check more information:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-vers...

First step, ensure to download Visual Basic 6 from an official Microsoft website or a trusted font.

do a right click on the installation file and select Properties

    Click on the Compatibility tab.

Check the box for Run this program in compatibility mode for and select Windows XP (Service Pack 3) from the dropdown menu.

Check the box for Run this program as an administrator.

    Click "Apply" and then OK.

Double click on the installation file and begin the installation process.

If it gets stuck towards the end, try this other steps:

Close the installation window and restart your computer.

Navigate to the directory where you have saved the installation files and locate the setup.exe file.

    Right-click on the setup.exe file and select"Properties.

Repeat the compatibility mode settings as mentioned above.

    Click apply and then OK.

Double click on the setup.exe file to launch the installation process again.

Regarding installing Visual Basic 6 on Windows 11 can be challenging since it is an older software and only run in compatibility mode,

You can check the video also, show step by step how to install correctly the

  4. Is there any safety or security concern when using visual basic 6 IDE on Windows10 / 11 ?...

    Visual Basic 6 help

It depends.. If you need your program to work on Windows XP or later then 2010. If not then 2012. I have 2012 installed on one of my Windows 8 boxes, but I don't use it as much. Did you not try what I suggested above? I have Visual Studio 6 on a VM. So, I loaded up the VM and tested my code above and it works. I'm with Ford and think you should move over to .net, but your transition my take a week or two. If you need this to work now, then I would suggest you finish this project in VB6. Once you get the hang of .net then re code it in .net. *Toast :toast:
