My laptop was stolen along with other gadgets and stuff at home and it has sensitive info bout the company and other works I'm doing. I wanna wipe it clean but the Location has been "disabled", so I can't lock or locate it thru the guide given online. I can still log in to my Outlook account that is connected to Drive,Office, etc. I saw they renamed the laptop as "n" from my actual name.Is there anything I can do to :1. Trace where it is now?2. Wipe the things in it?3. Remove their access to MS Services? Will it include the OS?Thank you so much . I hope someone could help.

    :)

    Stolen Laptop

    Hi Tara,

Since this is regarding a stolen laptop, we suggest contacting the manufacturer of your device for better assistance.

Feel free to post back if you have other Windows concern.

  3. Stolen MS Laptop

Two MS Laptop have been stolen, and I have 'Find my Device' Locked the unit - but await for any signs of life.

Both laptops have the usual start lock. sadly 1 laptop needs an adapter to allow usage of an Ethernet socket but both have wifi.

Wifi is not accessed until the device is unlocked, majority of wifi access requires user authentication.

If the 'User' attempts to wipe the device as they can not access pass the lock screen, this could be achieved in stand alone mode (No internet required) However the serial number shall remain embedded.

Because the OS would now not be linked to my MS Account, the serial number becomes useless so the device will never be locked or traced? So my account will never ping me when the device comes online.

Upon the Re-installation - if SSD - During the reinstall will the files be deleted or will they be marked for deletion (Overwritten)?

I know i will never see my devices again, however i want to render them useless to their new found seller!

    Laptop is presumed stolen

My mother recently mailed me a 6 month old laptop with an explicit and clear request for post office pick up. Carelessly, the carrier delivered my laptop to my apartment. It is presumed stolen. Other than display my frustration with the postal service, what are the necessary steps I should take? Is there any chance my laptop can be recovered?
