    Hello TenForums,

    My name is Reece.

    I'm having an issue where I can't seem to use my old activation key to get rid of the 'Activate Windows' watermark. It really bothers me since my friend tried to show me that Windows 10 Education was brilliant. Its crap. And now I want my old stuff back for the anniversary update!

    Let me walk you through what I've done so far: [click the steps to see screenshots or click here to see them all]

    1: I removed the current product key [admin cmd > slmgr /upk]

    2: I grabbed my old activation key on the OEM key from my disk using the recommended troubleshooter

    3: I ran 'Windows Activation', entered the code and waited.

    4: This happened [with error code 0xc004f050    ]

    Please, some help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

    From the looks of it I'm going to be abroad when the upgrade is launched, and I'm worried that the download will go ahead without warning. As it's a 3gb download this could create substantial costs for me as I understand my internet connection will have
    download limits.

    Is there any way that I could pause or stop the download if it starts? (as I understand the download will start itself without warning)

    I am sure there will be an option to delay the download, also it may be something like, do not download on metered connections.

    Pretty simple thing for Microsoft to be aware of this kind of a situation.

    If you upgraded to Windows 10 Education - there is no way to downgrade to Pro. You will have to do a clean install of Windows 10 Pro.

    Reece, actually one can downgrade with a registry hack and upgrade-install, but I would not advocate the method as it leads to a 'frankenbuild' (some Edu files being left behind)... backing up your data and clean installing would be the way to go... (BTW nice to see the Activation Diagnostic Tool coming in handy *Smile )
