  1. Is there any way to force a System Recovery/Repair disk to contain custom drivers?

Odd as it may seem, I have an Asus motherboard that requires custom drivers for both the network adaptor and USB 3.0 ports. It appears that the repair disk creation process don't pick up these custom drivers even when the repair disk is created on the machine that has those same drivers already added. As a result, the repair disk is next to useless as I can't access saved images over the LAN nor can I read them from an external hard drive using USB 3.0. I suppose I could try using a USB 2.0 port on the board if I had a few days to waste.Am I mistaken about the custom drivers being a problem

    :)

    repair disk

A system image contains the entire contents of the hard drive as it stands at the time you make the image including all your hardware drivers.
An image cannot contain any drivers from your original installation, only what is there now.

You can restore a system image at Settings, Update & security, Recovery, Advanced startup - Restart now. If your Windows installation is so badly corrupted that you cannot use this procedure, then you can boot from a

    Windows 10 installation disk
, a System repair disk or a Recovery drive
    to restore the image.

Personally, I always use an installation disk [it is a repair tool as well as an installation tool].

    • When you boot from it you choose some regional settings [keyboard, language, time-currency] then you are taken to a screen with a big
Install now control and also a small Repair your computer control.
    • When you click on Repair your computer you are taken into the Windows recovery environment [WRE].
    • Select Troubleshoot, Advanced options, System image recovery and then connect the external drive containing your system image.
    • Wait for the computer to find the system image and then follow its menu-driven procedure.

Is there any way to force a System Recovery/Repair disk to contain custom drivers?

    recovery system image repair disk

    Hi,

I'm not real sure of the problem you are describing as to what will not read what...

The data the Repair Disk needs to reload an image is on the Repair Disk itself..

The Repair Disk is created from the data contained on the "Recovery" partition of your OS drive.. If the Recovery partition is damaged or deleted you will not be able to create a new Repair Disk..

There are other options.. You can download Windows 10 installation Media to a Flash Drive, or as a ISO and burn it to a DVD... The Installation Media has a "REPAIR" function on the lower left of the Install screen..

Is it possible that the error is coming from a possibly defective 2nd new HDD ?
