Windows 10: Is there any way to force restart DirectX 12?

I'm experiencing an issue where DirectX 12 can essentially "shut off", meaning games will simply freeze if I try to launch them. The only cure is to restart the PC every time I want to play a game that uses DX12, but that's really annoying, especially since I use my PC to do other work as well.

Is there any sort of way to manually force DX12 to restart without restarting the PC? Thank you!

Directx 12 on Windows 10 is gone

Step 1:

I suggest you to check the DirectX Version installed on your system.

Follow the below steps to check the DirectX Version:

• Press Windows key + R from the Desktop.
• Type dxdiag and hit Enter.
• Check the DirectX Version.

Step 2:

I suggest you to update the Graphic driver from the Device Manager and check if it works.

Follow the below steps:

• Press Windows + R on the Keyboard.
• Type in devmgmt.msc and hit Enter.
• Select Graphic driver from the list.
• Right click on the Graphic driver and click on Update driver Software.

If the issue persists then install the latest graphic driver from the manufacturer and check if it helps.

Upgraded to Windows 10 but no directx 12?

Windows 10 comes with DirectX 12, however, its functionality always depends on the hardware, That is, the Graphics driver must be able to support DirectX 12.

I suggest you to run the DirectX end-user Runtime installer and check if it helps from the link below.

Coming to downgrading DirectX, DirectX upgrades are a one way streets wherein you can't downgrade once installed. One way to fix the BSOD (or dxgmms2 issues) is to update the graphics drivers to support DirectX 12.

Meanwhile, please go through the following KB article which speaks about the new update released on February 4th which includes many improvements and fixes.

Is There A Way to Install Directx 12?

My friend gave me a graphics card that is dx 12 compatible but he forgot where he put the installation cd, and I just wanna find out if there's a way for me to install Directx 12 without the cd
