Windows 10: Is there any way to use the old version of Notepad in Windows 11 and fix "New > Text...

Ok, here's the situation. I use Windows 11 and I've been trying to restore the old version of Notepad because I like how it's more simple and it opens faster than the new one. Eventually I found out that you can just uninstall the new Notepad through the start menu and Windows will open .txt files with the old one, which is great, but after restarting, the "New > Text Document" option in my context menu disappears, and I use that very frequently. When I reinstall the new Notepad through Microsoft store and restart, the option comes back, so I guess this option is now dependent on having the

Hello Kirito, thank you for your reply. I have disabled the new version of notepad and installed the old version in my win 11 computer. I don't want to go to the trouble of learning how to use the new version. The old version suited my needs perfectly as I only do simple text editing. I do a lot of editing and it would be more convenient to just click on a text file and have it opened in just one step in old notepad. Now a box opens up and asks me to choose what program I want to open the file in. I would like to eliminate this extra step. Sorry for so long an explanation, Victor.

Here's the steps you can try.

-Right-click on the Start button and select Settings from the menu.

-On the list on the left-hand side, select Apps.

-From the right pane, select Optional features.

-Click on View Features corresponding to Add an Optional feature.

-Search for Notepad from the list and check the box associated with it.

-Click on Next. On the next page, click on Install.

Reboot the system after Notepad has been installed.

I am a blind user who frequently uses the Notepad application. On my Windows 11 laptop, I’m having difficulty to read the content and Braille. I can hear it with my screen reader, but I can’t read it properly. So, when I want to write code properly, I use my Windows 10 PC. Is there a way to have the old version of Notepad? If not, is there any alternative?
