Windows 10: Is there anything I can do to make this PC/Windows run lighter?

My parents bought a new desktop earlier this year and it's SO SLOW. Came pre-installed with Windows 10, which confuses me greatly because it's near impossible to do anything on it.

Specs: HP Pavilion Desktop PC 570-p0xx Processor- Intel Core i3-7100 @ 3.9ghz RAM- 4gb Currently running Windows 10 Home

They mostly use it to check emails and use the chromecast, so I'm worried we're gonna have to stick to Windows in some form or fashion. Any advice? I'd rather not deal with upgrading hardware, but 4gb of RAM seriously sucks.

PC Build Steps

Ok just because I like steps i am going to create some steps. Please give me the stamp of approval/disapproval

• Install system in case
  • Remember to connect SSD and optical to same SATA ports on motherboard
• Turn on PC
• setup HDD
• run blend test in prime95 for 30-60 min
  • run realtemp at the same time

• While in Prime95 test
  • if CPU goes above 70c in RealTemp, I have a leaky CPU
  • if my system locks up or blue screens, there is an instability in the system somewhere
  • if my system does not lock up or blue screen, my CPU is not damaged and I am in the clear!

What do you guys think??

 

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
