Windows 10: Is there anyway to remove a Hotmail email address from my windows account?

I do not have access to the email account any longer. It was created in 1997 when it was for a middle school lesson about the internet. I feel like having to remember this log in only when I need to seek technical help only makes the frustration of dealing with the robots that much worse.As always replies by volunteers will be taken as a suggestion not as actual advice. I am only interested in answers from some one who can be held accountable for what they say.Too often the end result of tech help is blaming the customer for breaking their equipment because the volunteer didn't care to help

Unauthorized Emails from my account?

It is more than likely that your email account was hacked, either by a virus sniffing your password, or just simply hacked.

Either way, change your password on your email account. Unfortunately the damage by already be done. They already have your contact list and your email address associated with that contact list. There is nothing stopping them from sending out emails using their own SMTP servers to everyone on your contact list and claiming the emails are from your email address. They don't actually have to have access to your yahoo account or even any yahoo server to send emails to people that come from your address.

Where are you trying to update the email address?

If you are doing this on the WindowsLive page and you are getting the message "I didn't get the code" click on that message.

A new page appears with the words "Where should we send your code?". Click on the drop down and you will have several other options.

Add an Alternate Email Address to Your Windows Live Hotmail Account
To add an email address to your Windows Live Hotmail account for use in case of a lost password:

• Go to your Windows Live Account in your browser.
  • Log in using your Windows Live Hotmail email address and password if prompted.
• Click Manage under Security Info: in the Account security section.
• Select Add New under Alternate email address.
• Type the new alternate email address over someone@example.com.
• Hit Enter.
• Open the email from "Windows Live Team " you received at the newly added email address with the subject "Windows Live Account Security Confirmation".
• Follow the confirmation link in the message.
