  1. Is there hope for me to have a safe Microsoft e-mail account?

I have a re-furbished Win10 Pro laptop coming in later this week.
I will use a Microsoft account and EDGE as the default browser and the MSN “home page”
--- On the Microsoft account, what choices can I consider?

The reason I’m asking is because on my Win10 desktop listed for my system specs I created a hotmail.com Microsoft account and it has had a ton of JUNK mail & I mean JUNK mail since day one. I signed up as a Win10 Insider but never got involved in it.
--- I’ve never sent e-mails or created an address book in that account. I did read e-mails from Gabe Aul & the Windows Insider Team so I could try to keep up with Windows 10 progress.

With all of that said, I also have 2 Yahoo email accounts and don’t have any issues with either one and never did.

Even if I stay with hotmail.com on the laptop I’m getting, I just hope I won’t have all of those JUNK e-mail issues.
I went to Microsoft Community for help to no avail.

Is there hope for me to have a safe Microsoft e-mail account?

    :)

  2. Is there still a hope for RTS fans to see a WWI-WWII Age of Empires? (aka Age of Empires IV?)

Many old-school gamers know the classic magazine page of Age of Empires, that goes fom 1-5, but we never saw a single drop of hope. When some expansions came to AoM and AoK, people got hyped, but still, no news from Microsoft or Emseble Studios.

  3. Is there a password safe from Microsoft for windows 10

    Hi,

Microsoft does not provide a Password Safe so if you want/need one you will need to use 3rd party as you have been doing.

    Hope this helps.

The only way I know of that and email account become infected with all that junk mail is if one uses said email address (for everything) when filling out surveys, shopping invites and everything else along those lines.

That's why most of us use one email address just for that (junk) and another email address for secure matters. I myself have 5 MS email address for various purposes and about 10 other email accounts for non essentials. None of which are Yahoo....simply because of the lack of security Yahoo has. They've been breached to many times for my liking.

+1 what Samuria and Plankton said, if you never used that account to sign into anything, all you can get is messages from Microsoft. If you haven't used it for some longer time there could be quite a lot of them if you consider that "Junk".
To have reasonably safe account don't link it to any other account, specially not to Ymail or anything Yahoo. Yahoo mail must be most compromised mail out there.
It’s (Past) Time to Close That Yahoo Account

  6. On the Microsoft Hotmail account, it's not that I can't use it: I didn't because JUNK e-mail was an immediate problem for whatever reason and Microsoft Community wasn't able to help address it.
--- Nothing has been linked from any of my e-mail accounts.
On my 2 Yahoo email accounts I've been on them since forever and never had any issues including up to now.
I can't tell from the research I've checked out but I'm hoping I'll be able to create a Microsoft account with a new gmail account.
--- I'm hoping to dedicate that email account for computers & technology (actually that was my original intent for my Microsoft Hotmail account). So Plankton, I understand what you are saying: in fact each of my 2 Yahoo accounts are for dedicated purposes.
Thanks for your answers as it leads me to believe my Microsoft account JUNK mail issue isn't a common problem.
--- With that said it isn't an unusual problem and with the research I've been looking up, I haven't found a solution yet from anyone who was trying to fix it on their computers and some of them did not have Yahoo email accounts.

I have both an Outlook.com and a Hotmail.com account and haven't seen any problems with them. I also have my ISP account, my Domain account and a Gmail account, so far no problems. I've had the Hotmail account since late '95. It's possible for any E-Mail to get hacked but using a stronger password, more than 8 or 10 characters, is helpful and not clicking on links in any suspicious-sounding message is of prime importance.

  8. Is there hope for me to have a safe Microsoft e-mail account?

I just purchased a Win10 Pro laptop but I don't have any confidence on what to use as a Microsoft account yet.
I don't want to use either of my Yahoo accounts as I've been lucky enough to be fine with them and I certainly understand the information posted referring to Yahoo issues: those are big reasons I will not use either one for a Microsoft account.

On the my Hotmail account, I created that when I signed up for a Windows 10 Insider but within 1 day, I was immediately affected by JUNK mail. Since then it's been worse than JUNK mail in the sense that almost everything/anything comes in. I don't open any of them I just let them be automatically removed after 10 days. As I have mentioned, the Microsoft Community wasn't any help in addressing whatever was going on.

I just got my Win10 Pro laptop in. I'll be using MSN as my homepage: is there an MSN email account I can create?
    --- I'll consider a Gmail account also

Hi there. Are all of these "junk" emails from MS and/or the Insider program?

  10. None of the JUNK emails are from MS and/or the Insider program.
I'm going to see a friend of mine who has a computer repair business. I'll post back on the solution if I follow through on that.

Somebody has to know your address in order to get any mail including junk mail.

  12. Hi CountMike, so true and that's what is so troublesome to me.
The Microsoft Hotmail account was brand new and never used and the junk mail happened on the same day right after I read the welcome email for joining the Insider program. And it wasn't long before those junk mails became JUNK emails. On the Insider emails, I did open the first few of them so I could see what they had to offer. As soon as I saw JUNK emails just coming in later on in the day I just never participated in the Insider program because I didn't know what to trust. As mentioned looking for help from the Microsoft Community was useless. I never sent any emails to anyone and never created an address book. I would like to note that I maintain 2 other Windows 10 computers but they do not use a Microsoft account. Those 2 computers as well as mine run as good as new and are well maintained.
Whatever happened on my computer to allow those JUNK emails to come in on day 1 is astounding to me. I don't have anything synced to it which I suppose could be a factor. To me that Microsoft account is worthless. Maybe my friend will be able to tell me the basic problem: if it's my fault, I'll admit it and learn from it.
Oh yes, this Windows 10 Pro desktop was originally Windows 7 Pro and I upgraded it myself. I never had a Hotmail account on Windows 7.
Come to think of it I did allow for default settings when I did that upgrade. Maybe it's allowing privacy settings to allow whatever they do. If that makes sense Is there a tutorial on handling privacy settings so I can block what should be blocked?

Is there hope for me to have a safe Microsoft e-mail account?

I created a Microsoft account a couple of years back, to find it was already subscribed to some services.
My best explanation is that someone else created that account and then gave up that address, which I then took over , not knowing it had been used before.
It could be that something similar has happened here and it isn't really a new account at all, but is instead a 'second user' email address which was already getting spam for its previous user.

That's what makes it so perplexing, new account with junk mail, were those some adds ? I have mine for 10 years at least and don't get no adds.

It may have gotten by somehow, but usually MS will not let anyone use an already existing account, nor one that’s already been used and closed. I suggest that you either block any unwanted email addresses and/or domains,

    Or

change your email address altogether. Here’s how > Go into your MS account > tap the “Info” tab to see “Manage how you sign in to Microsoft”. Create an alias and then remove the “primary alias”. Here’s the help link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...manage-aliases.

Then send out a gang email to your contacts that you changed it and change it in any online account you may have. A PITA I know.

    Hope that helps.
