Windows 10: Is there no longer an option to disable or remove Windows Authentication from a PC?

I just bought a new PC and want to connect it to my old PC and map a drive to make data transfer easier I want to be able to do it selectively as I don't want my new PC to inherit the mess that is my old one. The new PC is running Windows 11 Pro and my old machine is running Windows 10 Pro. When I try to map a drive from my old one in my new one, I get a Windows Authentication error. I have tried entering local account user names and passwords as well as my Microsoft account. Nothing works. I found several posts that tell me to log in to my Windows account, go to the Security tab and se

After more research, I have found my answer. It looks like the issue was that Microsoft released a new Microsoft Authenticator app with the features first introduced in Microsoft Authenticator Beta. The new app received a prompt to approve access to my Microsoft
Account when signing on from a new PC, though I find it strange that the beta app wasn't directly upgraded to the new version of the app.

Microsoft now has three 2 step authentication apps available in the store for Windows 10 Mobile:

• Authenticator - original app from Windows Phone 8
• Microsoft Authenticator Beta - originally released to Windows 10 users when Windows 10 Mobile was only available on the Windows Insider program.
• Microsoft Authenticator - the official Windows 10 app no longer in beta

Thanks for replying. Apologies, but I was reluctant to use the link that you supplied. I do not want to remove text and call. I do not want text or call to be the default options which it is now after I reset my password. I want to add Use Backup Codes to the main options as well as the GOOGLE Authenticator option. And I do not see that now. Only this:

And when I click on 2 Step Verification it shows this:

Which is why I am still mulling over the option to remove my phone number and disable 2FA and start over. I'm hoping if I do that and do not enter my phone number first I will get the options back of using the Backup Codes and the Authenticator app and then add my phone number and hopefully this time the phone number will not be the default option. What do you think?

Restore factory settings do list Removes your personal files, apps and settings, and reinstalls the version of Windows that came on this PC.

So if this isn't true well than just erase the drive and install a clean Windows 10 with all the drivers u need but why should it be true
