  1. Is there some way to prevent large software from polluting the OS

I need to install a couple of software such as MatLab, Vivado, etc, which take a considerable space on my computer. Installing these software is not an issue. The issue is even when I'm not using them, they have a lot of processes running in the background. The problem with this is my CPU no longer coasts at 1 to 1.5GHz (max is 3.2GHz) when I'm doing trivial things like browsing the web. This causes the fan to lose it's mind of the times and gets quite irritating. I recently reinstalled Windows and the CPU frequency and fan are back to behaving normally. I need to install a lot of these software back but I want to avoid having to deal with the same issue again. Is there some way (not called installing in a virtual machine) when I can install these potentially problematic software such that they are pretty invisible when I don't need them and only get called upon when I need them ?

Overclocking / Undervolting guide for Vega 56 or 64?

    Here's a quick laundry list:

List of software to use for overclocking and testing
    Examples:
Wattman (and how to find and use it, like an overview, including profiles)
Unigine Valley or Heaven (use this for quick testing while changing settings in Wattman and checking for stability / artifacts) ...just suggesting this
How to monitor cores / mem speeds and temps during testing (I've seen screen overlays, and others using GPUz)

    Step-by step overclocking in Wattman
    Fan speeds
    Power limit
    Temp limit
    Voltages
    Core speeds
    Memory speeds
