Windows 10: Is this a bug with W10 Pro and pausing updates ?

I have noticed this behaviour a few times over the last few months...

I run my system with updates paused which gives 35 days from the last update check until you either manually do an update check, or W10 does it for you. Fair enough I suppose.

What happens though, is that a little anomaly seems to creep in. I know for example that a new update has been released (such as todays CU) and so I go and 'un-pause' updates. A message appears saying 'we are now checking for updates'. I now navigate to the main Windows Update screen and find that it actually says 'You're up to date' and the time of the check corresponds to the time I 'un-paused' the updates service.

From this point I can go back to the advanced options screen and pause them again, deferring updates for another 35 days without having installed anything.

Edit... a manual check reveals the update is available at that time.

I've noticed this a few times.

Upgraded to W10 and printer keeps pausing

After the Windows 10 upgrade my printer won't accept Ready status, but defaults to Pause. It's an older printer but the manufacturer site lists updated drivers built in to W10. Is this a conflict somewhere in the device settings?

The option to pause updates is available only with Pro, Education and Enterprise edition of Windows 10.....
