  1. Is this a phony/dangerous link?

Hi. I was trying to look up a "suspicious" IP it turned out to be something on my system, I found out shortly later. Unfortunately, in the meantime, I did a quick bing search, simply typing in the numbers of the IP. I think it was the first link that came up. I'd never heard of it, so I checked with mywot, and, although it had 0 reviews, it had like an 80% favorable rating. phony update window

An occasional window opens saying that I am entitled to an update. This is NOT a windows update. I think it it an attempt to load things you do not want onto your computer. Another user made a suggestion; the window has changed so that that option is no
longer available. I do not have screenshot available. This window is not only annoying, but I feel dangerous to users that may OK the update.

    All Gmail links fail

Thanks to Caledon Ken...your suggestion had no effect.

Thanks to bro67...Interestingly enough the Gmail link to this forum reply actually worked, as did your link to "How to Fix....." I tried steps 1 and 2 without success. Step 3 gave me the following screen, which didn't look like the article described. At any rate, the probem is unchanged...screenshot follows.
