  1. Is this number legit for microsoft support or did i get scammed

I got a call from this num +1 206-429-9176 after asking to be called by microsoft for a windows 11 activation problem, they only asked for my email and product key. They did give me a ticket number and it does correspond with the one from the support request, it also says the request has been closed but is it possible that i compromised my accounts by giving the caller my mail ?

    :)

    800 642 7676 a legit number for Microsoft support?

This morning while browsing the web on my pc, I suddenly got a virus alert that took over the entire browser page. It scared the daylights out of me.

It was made to look like it came from Microsoft. I figured it was fake. I didn't call the 855- number that was listed in the warning.

Even though I do have anti virus software installed I called Microsoft at 800 642 7676. The support person I spoke with informed me

this was a scam and said that I probably had a virus installed (I told them I did not click on anything). I opted for the $159 fee to

cover one year of tech support. The tech guy went in and found two suspicious files and removed them.

I then called my anti virus tech support. I told them what happened and the agent told me the above microsoft number I called was a scam number and my pc had most likely been hacked into. She said I should call my credit card bank

and cancel my $159 payment as well as go to all my credit card sites as well as other sites I use a password and change all of my

passwords. I was then connected to an agent who remotely checked for malicious software. None was found. I was told my computer

    was fine.

Is the above phone number a legit number? Why would my antivirus company tell me it is a scam number? This a well known and

    reputable anti virus software company.

    Microsoft scam number?

    Scam.

Microsoft and/or their associated companies will never get in touch with you through "popups", phone calls (unless you made arrangements with them), etc.,

And your Computer does not send out reports to anyone saying that it is infected with Malware or that it has problems.

    ________________________________________

And for you to even see that popup and that popup giving you various phone numbers to ring for assistance means that your computer may already be infected with Malware

"Remove Tech Support Scam pop-up (Call For Support Scam)"

    https://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-tech-support-scam-popups/

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

These so-called "Microsoft" Tech Companies either want to sell you worthless software, or gain Remote Access to your Computer to try and steal your Banking and Credit Card details and to also carry out an Indentity Theft on you.

If you have given them Remote Access and if you do Internet Banking, contact your Bank, explain it to them and change Passwords.

If you use your Credit Card online, cancel it and get a new one issued to you.

And the only way that you willl know that you are free of them is to save your Data and do a clean install of your Operating System.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

And Microsoft does not contact you, unless YOU have made prior arrangements with them to do so.

There is a section in the link I am supplying you about this at the end of it

    Read this Microsoft Information:

    "Avoid tech support phone scams"

    Microsoft security help and learning

Do not trust unsolicited calls. Do not provide any personal information.

Here are some of the organizations that cybercriminals claim to be from:

    • Windows Helpdesk
    • Windows Service Center
    • Microsoft Tech Support
    • Microsoft Support
    • Windows Technical Department Support Group
    • Microsoft Research and Development Team (Microsoft R & D Team)
    Report phone scams

    Cheers.
