Simply pay attention to the Disk read Context about what is happening here, so the ntoskrnl.exe is System and the System is my OS, the OS is on my C drive, my C drive is running on a SSD SPCCSolidStateDrive 237gb's and it's been around for about 5 years now. It has begun to start doing this randomly, if I am watching a video or playing a game, my frames will drop from 60 to 40 and things become janky for a 3 seconds or 10 seconds and then things speed back up, typically when the SSD is downloading or reading something, the Disk will show around 30% to 25% usage and it displays all of it's in

  2. Windows 10 stalling 30min - 1hr, Task Manager not starting, mouse still reactive, how can I analyze that?

The stalling phase can go on for almost one hour until Task Manager finally opens (after having issued Ctrl Shift Esc while it was stalling).

After the stalling phase all looks fine in Task Manager and the logs show nothing special.

How can I determine what's going on during the stalling phase? I would like to know if it is a specific process eating up all resources or similar.

BTW: Disks are not spinning (more than normal) during the stalling phase.

    Edits:

    • I managed to open Resource Monitor before the next stalling phase, but Resource Monitor doesn't refresh while the machine is stalling.
    • HW is physical (not virtualized) with 16GB RAM
    • During regular phases there's plenty of RAM available, when stalling I can't tell (yet)

No restart button in task manager

another easy way to kill tasks, download and install Winaero Tweaker(free) and theres a setting to add a Kill non responding tasks using the desktop right click menu. When you place your cursor on the desktop anywhere and right click the option is at the top of the list, Very handy and you dont have to go through all those steps and well Winaero Tweaker has alot of cool Windows tweaks. Just posting a different suggestion, Im sure your ok with what was suggested here.
