is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you’re connected to the network or Internet, and then try again. If the location still can’t be found, it might have been moved or deleted.

  2. G:\ is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected

    Hello,

Some context for my issue: I recently changed updated from my old HDD to a new SSD. Instead of cloning (due to size limitations of the SSD), I did a new install of Windows on the SSD. The PC is able to boot properly from the SSD. I want to continue using the HDD as an extra drive to store my files, so I connected it into another SATA port. PC is still able to boot just fine. However, when I try to access the "Users" > [my old user profile] > Documents/Downloads/Pictures/etc. on old HDD (now drive letter as G instead of default C), it gives the error message of G:\users\profile\Documents is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected...

I've given access and even changed ownership of the "Users" folder to my new profile and I am pretty sure the drivers for the hard disk is updated. Oddly enough, I am able to access other folders/items in the user folder so it seems like the drive is properly connected. Checking the disk management window also shows that the drive is online with recognizable partitions. I just can't access my old Documents/Downloads/Desktop/Pictures folders.

  3. How can I access my documents if my G Drive is unavailable?

    Hi everyone,

When I log in, I get this message:

G:\ My Drive is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disk is inserted, then try again. I tried installing the G Drive again but to no avail. Any suggestions?

"G:\ is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure ..." when plug in my USB drive

    1. Go to the drive where the Windows is installed, for most users, it's C:\Users (or ).

    2. Open the folder name with your username.

    3. Right-Click on the Desktop and select Properties.

    4. Under the Location tab, click the Restore Default button.

    5. Restart PC.

    If that does not work...

Uninstall and Reinstall the USB Drivers.

    Step 1: Uninstall the Drivers

    a. Press “Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard.

    b. Click on “Device Manager” from that list.

    c. Search for the USB from the device list, right click on it and then select “Uninstall”. On the un-installation window, if you have an option: “Delete the driver software for this device” you may select that and then remove the corrupted drivers from the
    computer.

    d. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and then restart the computer if prompted.

After the restart, please go ahead with the next steps to install the latest drivers and check if that resolves the issue.
