I agree totally with that comment.

The retail license is well worth the extra over OEM if you build your own system for personal use. It saves so much hassle in the future, for instance if you upgrade your mobo and CPU *Smile

Yep, agreed 50 dollars extra is defo worth a retail license. But if it's costing almost 200 dollars extra, then that's a different matter.

  5. Win 8 .0, why not pick Win10 Pro (OEM)?
Steam CD Keys and Game Keys - Compare Buy | Kinguin.net

I did read a little about Kinguin, another market site - sellers from anywhere can list their wares.
Kinguin has an extra charge that sort of protects you against unscrupulous sellers.

Don't forget about S&H and tax.

I would never use my credit or debit card on any unknown site, I'm not sure if these sites would accept a purchased Visa or Mastercard (not a gift card) - that will cost another $5 or $10 for the fee on the card. Worth it if you consider the cost of having your real card numbers posted on the net.

The call is still yours to make - the answer will always be the same no matter how many cheap Windows you find.
    Caveat emptor!

Because the whole point is that Win 10 OEM is illegal unless you're a system seller.

But Win 8 OEM is actually legal for personal use, thus a cheap way to get Windows 10 for free.

  7. The same rules apply for any Windows OEM license.

I've run out out conversation on this issue - you'll have to decide what to do.

Not according to Microsoft. Microsoft states in the link in post #2 that Windows 8.0 OEM and Windows 8.0 OEM only can legally be used on a computer that is meant to be kept for personal use.

Yes as YOU are the Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM)
No where in the license does it say you have to sell it within a certain time frame...

  10. I stand corrected - thanks.

Microsoft's licensing Gordian knots defy description *Wink

Hmmm, good point. Perhaps you're right. Thing is, you'd have to have the intention to sell.

Is Windows 10 OEM allowed for system builders?

Still not convinced Win 10 OEM is the right thing.

MS does say concerning, "Building a PC for personal use licensing" for Win 10, that "Full packaged retail product is needed."

But for Win 8, they say, "OEM System builder product may be purchased."

Find a store that has a Community bulletin board and post a add that you have a custom built computer for sale and ask for a ridicules high price. Not your fault nobody wants to buy it.

True, but does that then mean the system builder is allowed to use it for personal use? Here is where I'm not sure.

What I am sure however, is that doing this with Win 8 OEM is totally legit. I've made my decision, Win 8 OEM it is. Cheapest way to get Win 10.
