    Is WLM actually dead?

In my Sandy B running 10 Pro only I noticed I still had WLM as an icon on my taskbar. So before I went ahead and unpinned it I thought I would give it a whirl.

Low and behold it started up still not downloading Hotmail stuff but did the Bigpond (my secondary mail site) in an instant.

Now the strange thing is in outlook.live.com quite the opposite happens Hotmail instantly and Bigpond if I am lucky see pics not good quality I'm afaraid

So my query is is WLM actually dead and gone if so why the Bigpond download?? - see dates in pics

As a by the by the Hotmail messages when clicked on give me a nonsensical message that it cannot do it because my drive is almost full when in fact I have 153GB of drive empty.

    :)

    windows mail

1ST,thank you for the quick reply. I have backup copies of my emails (EML), folders and address list (WAB) but never backed up the actual email program (WLM).I do almost all my work
using distribution list and I don’t believe the “people app” support these list.

I was unaware the MS was obsoleting Windows Essentials and thus WLM as of Jan. 2017.

I have tried to find a WLM download with no success.

I have a second computer with WLM installed -is it doable to copy the WLM program from the second computer and install it on the reset computer?

Again thank you for the help

  3. A problem occurred while trying to open this message. Please try later on Windows Live Mail

Actually while waiting for a reply we uninstalled then reinstalled WLM and all is well.

Thanks for offering this possible solution,

    Is WLM actually dead?

Microsoft killed off all of the Windows Live stuff well over a year ago. Just use Windows 10's Mail app.

It was last developed in 2012, so it could be a security risk.

It is dead, some of it still does work. 4 of my 6 Mail accounts do still work, of those 2 have to be POP rather than IMAP. So only 2 are working properly you could say.
It is no longer supported or updated so it's only going one way.

All those 6 accounts work with IMAP with the Windows 8/10 Mail Account App. A default whilst looking around for another Application.

Mate, WLM IS as dead as a dodo on Hotmail/Outlook.com because it doesn't support the only protocol MS online supports for Calendar sync, etc. You can use it with an IMAP setting, but that only covers Mail, not Calendar or Tasks.

As for Bigpond, I got off reliance on Telstra in 1999 and saved loads of money.
