I want to download the Windows 11 23H2 ISO. But for some reason, I'm having some issues downloading the Windows 11 23H2 ISO. Can someone please give me an official Microsoft Windows 11 direct download link for the Windows 11 23H2 ISO. And please make sure to select English United States for location and langauge.

 

How can I obtain a Windows 11 23H2 ISO that includes up-to-date versions of the integrated apps?

I am working to prepare to deploy Windows 11 23H2 in my organization. This will be our first rollout of Windows 11; we are currently running Windows 10.

In mid-November, we downloaded an installer ISO to use for this work. The filename is 'SW_DVD9_Win_Pro_11_23H2_64BIT_English_Pro_Ent_EDU_N_MLF_X23-59562.ISO'. I have successfully used it to install Windows 11 23H2; the resulting Windows identifies itself, in the 'winver' dialog, as OS Build 22631.2428.

I assumed that, since this is an ISO for Windows 11 23H2, the included applications would be up-to-date as of the date when 23H2 was released - or, at least, when the build that became 23H2 was created, which (as the name suggests) should have been sometime in the second half of 2023.

However, I have so far identified at least two included applications which are of versions considerably older than that. One of those is critical to a user-facing Windows 11 feature.

I need to be able to deploy Windows 11 in such a way that when it has finished installing, that critical application will already be updated to a version new enough to include certain functionality which I am given to understand was made available in early 2023.

I am therefore asking: how can I get my hands on a Windows 11 23H2 ISO for which the shipped application versions are up-to-date as of the release of 23H2? If somehow no such ISO is available, how can I integrate (or "slipstream"?) updated versions of such applications into the ISO (or the embedded WIM) which I already have?

Specifically, the Widgets panel reportedly relies on the "Windows Web Experience Pack", which is shipped as a separate but preinstalled and integrated application. That application - AKA 'Microsoft.WindowsClient.WebExperience' - is installed at version 421.20070.195.0. However, from what I am reading online, a newer version - 423.3000.10.0 - had already been released as far back as February of 2023; that is well before the start of the second half of 2023.

Reportedly, by the time of that version (and possibly new in that version), the Web Experience Pack included the ability to use Widgets without requiring signing in with a Microsoft account. Because our organization disables the use of consumer Microsoft accounts (in favor of the Active Directory and/or Microsoft 365 accounts which we provide), that ability is necessary in order for us to be able to use Widgets at all, rather than being required to disable it as nonfunctional.

If that functionality were newer than the Windows 11 23H2 release, I would be unhappy, but I would be looking for ways to deploy an updated version of the application after the deployment of Windows (and/or to integrate an updated version into the install ISO).

However, since the functionality is at minimum several months older than the release of 23H2, it seems impossible that there is not a 23H2 ISO - for the Windows editions which we need, i.e., Pro/Enterprise/Education - which includes the updated version which provides that functionality.

While pursuing ways to update the Windows Web Experience Pack post-installation, I discovered that the 'winget' software-installation tool is also present at an out-of-date version. Specifically, it is installed as version 1.2.10691. For comparison, I have seen online discussions from as far back as September of 2022 which indicate that version 1.3.2091 was already available by that date. (And another discussion which suggests that the current version is at least 1.6.3133.) There is quite a bit of updated functionality in the versions of this tool released in the meantime.

How can I get my hands on an ISO with an updated version of that tool also included? If somehow none is available, how can I add it in to (a copy of) the ISO - or, at least, the WIM - which I already have?

Given that these two applications have been observed to be shipped in the ISO at versions which were far out of date at the time of the 23H2 release, it seems likely that other included applications are also likewise out of date. How can I identify such applications? How can I get my hands on an ISO which includes versions of them which are up-to-date with 23H2?
