Windows 10: ISO

Discus and support ISO in Windows 10 Installation and Upgrade to solve the problem; Er no - there are always ways of getting iso, just MCT is easiest. In fact MCT does not actually download iso, but downloads files to create iso.... Discussion in 'Windows 10 Installation and Upgrade' started by maranna, Oct 15, 2017.

...or make a USB, the files needed are the same, the MCT just packages them for the media of your choice.

If you use a machine that isn't running Windows to go to the page where you download the MCT you'll be redirect to one where you can download an ISO directly from Microsoft. With a bit of fiddling in the F12 Developers Tools you can make Edge appear to be a non-windows browser and get the ISO directly.

    I have ver 1703 and build 15063.674
Can I let Windows install the update on Tuesday/Wednesday then create the tool after that?
I am getting confused what I use to have Windows create the stick without third party.Sorry but I would like a stick but am not to good at this. There is an assistant and a tool at the download link. I don't know which to use.

  7. And Dummy me installed early with the leaked MCT, and now Stuck on WIndows 10 Home, when I had Pro before, and so far can't get it to Switch to Pro lol, so looks like be doing major repair tomorrow

    Tried system image restore
    and still got Home

so guess plan of action is either go back to 15063 clean install way, Wait til tomorrow and see if I can get it back to Pro without another clean install, or another clean install of Fall Creators, and hopefully can get back to Pro edition

Yes, so did I. What was leaked was where to find it on Microsoft's servers - that was supposed to be a secret *Smile

Ooops! That's a slip of the fingers during install. The media that MCT makes includes Home and Pro, I used it to upgrade 1703 Pro to 1709 Pro without a problem.

  10. Yeah Mine didn't pickup on Pro, didn't even see the Product key window, install was very fast, didn't even think of checking it wasn't Pro til I went to setup Remote Desktop lol, then i'm like doh!

    Generic key won't take

No sign of Activation trouble shooter

So options are do 15063 Pro install (Cleanly), wait til tomorrow and get Fall Creator ISO, and do inplace upgrade, and hopefully can get that one back to Pro, Or Full Clean install of Fall Creators

System image restore from 15063 Pro no worky lol, picks up Windows 10 Home Key, try to upgrade to Pro in the past with that, and said wasn't activated

Setup does that on a clean install if it finds a Windows 8 key in the PC's firmware. Your machine must have originally been supplied with W8 Home.

  12. Originally was 10 Home when I got the PC in September

I used it to upgrade my lappy (SP3) and everything went perfect, except did not get FOD for OneDrive. I'll crowbar it in later after it gets released to the world.

You have two options. You could wait for Windows Update to say your machine is ready to get the Fall Creators Update and update you automatically. Microsoft use a phased rollout for delivering new versions so you won't necessarily get it on Tuesday/Wednesday. Generally the newest and most compatible machines get it first. Additionally, for known issues with particular hardware Microsoft will block you getting it through windows update until the issues are resolved. The rollout can last for months, some posters are reporting they've only just got the Creators Update through windows update.

If you can't wait, the other option is to download the install media and upgrade manually. This is where the Media Creation Tool can be used. Microsoft have warned in the past that by installing manually you are bypassing their checks for known issues. If you are unlucky enough to have hardware issues (it was Broadcom last time) you may find things like WiFi don't work. If so, you have 10 days in which you can undo the upgrade and revert to your current system.

  15. When you click on the new version it gives you the version that you are on and not 16299.19
