Windows 10: Issue after an update

I have installed a windows update on 19-12-2019, and then when I switched on the system all my previous settings and defaults are gone. This includes wallpapers, themes, defaults, saved passwords, WiFi networks etc., And then when I reset them all manually and restarted my windows, the same problem arose.

Furthermore, all the Microsoft office apps like word, power-point and excel are not opening at all. When I check them in the start button, it shows a white bar below all these apps. I understand these are the progress bars for possible updates being installed, but they are not done since yesterday in-spite of WiFi connection. I am unable to open any of them. What should I do?

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
