Windows 10: Issue Installing KB4343909 on Dell M6700

Hello:


I am at my wits end trying to get this update installed.


Found my laptop hung up in the morning after Windows tried to automatically install KB4343909. Rebooted and PC would lock up after a while as the update would try to run again - when it locks up, all hard drive activity stops and the OS freezes but the mouse will move but I cannot click on anything.


Tried the following procedures already:


1. Remove laptop from port replicator and disconnect all external devices and run the update

2. Run Windows Update Troubleshooter

3. Stop all the update services, rename the Software Distribution and catroot2 folders and retry the update

4. Downloaded the update manually and attempted to install

5. Finally "reset" the PC and the issue still occurs


I can only assume that there is something in the update that is conflicting with some piece of hardware specific on the M6700.


Any ideas?

VPN issue with KB4343909

Since the issue started after installing the latest build, we don't have much information yet as to what might be causing your VPN connection to stop working. However, we would like to troubleshoot the issue to determine what triggers it and how it can be
solved.

By the way, have you tried troubleshooting the VPN connection issue while the
KB4343909 was still installed on your computer? If so, what were the steps you've performed? Did you get other error messages aside from the "Trying to connect" message?

If it's okay with you, I would like to suggest to reinstall the KB4343909. Once reinstall, you may run the
Network Troubleshooter and perform the Network Reset to help us to further diagnose in case the issue persists. Below are the steps:

Network Troubleshooter

1. In the Cortana search, type in
   Network Troubleshooter, then select Identify and repair network problems from the list of results.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Network Reset

1. Navigate to the Windows key > Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network reset.
2. On the Network reset screen, select Reset now.
3. Click Yes to confirm.

If the above steps doesn't help, then I encourage you to submit this issue using the Feedback Hub so our software engineers will be able to look into the problem and conduct further investigation regarding the matter. Please follow these steps to submit
a feedback.

1. In Cortana search, search for Feedback Hub, then launch it.

4. If possible, reproduce the problem(s) after clicking Begin monitoring (or Start capture) near the end of the form, and Stop monitoring when done.

Courtesy of a new scoop by dell-lab.posterous.com we now have some specs of Dell's upcoming Precision M4700 (15.6-inch) and M6700 (17.3-inch) laptops. Powered by Intel chips, the two new Precision models are supposed to feature 65 Whr or 97 Whr batteries, DDR3 1866 MHz memory options, 2.5-inch HDD/SSD (one drive for the M4700, up to two for the M6700) storage, a built-in webcam, an ExpressCard slot, an SD card reader, and optional WiGig (wireless Gigabit).

The Precision M4700 also packs a Full HD (1920 x 1080) LED-backlit display with anti-glare coating, and either NVIDIA N14PQx (28 nm) or AMD FirePro M4000 graphics, while the M6700 can have a 2D or 3D Full HD display, and AMD Heathrow XT or NVIDIA N14EQx GPUs. The laptops' release dates are yet unknown.

Dell M6700 with new windows 10 install no internet access

Step 1. Run Network adaptor trouble shooter

You may try Microsoft Automated Troubleshooting Services as a first step to diagnose and repair common Network issues.

To run the trouble shooter follow the steps given below

  Click on Troubleshooting, Click
  View All.

  Click Network Adaptor and follow the instructions
  

Step 2: I suggest you to install the latest drivers from the manufacturer website and check if it helps to resolve the issue.
