Windows 10: ISSUE ! Note Pad Saving Dialog to Win/Sys32 when modifying TXT -- Win10 Pro

I have Windons 10 quite new intalled, I wanted to modify a .txt file, when I push save to save the changes it open a save as dialog setteled by default to System 32 folder .Windows 10 Professional -- Version 10.0.19045 Build 19045 Thanks

Hi, I'm running Win10 Pro on SurfaceBook. Can anyone suggest method or link to modifying Wi-Fi network preferences or order? Selecting and searching Help provided unrelated topics or results - no support. Thanks in advance. Steve

 

When I enter the event in the note pad and then close the screen, when I come back to the note pad the entries are all gone

Hi,

whenever we type any content in notepad and close it without saving then all the contents will get erased. To get the contents saved in your system you need to save the files.

Follow the steps below and check if it help.

• Open the note pad, enter the details.
• Click save on the top left
• Give a name to the file.
• Click on Save button. The files will get saved in the particular location.

Not able to set word as by default for .txt & .text type file

If Word or Office does need to be repaired, then use these steps:

Open the Settings App (gear icon on your Start Menu)

Go to Apps, then scroll down to find Microsoft Office

Select that and choose Modify - Online Repair

That is a comprehensive fix

That should fix any issues with your Office Installation . . .

To set Word as the default app for txt files:

Right click any text file and choose Properties

At the top of the resulting dialog, click Change

Is Word one of the options available in the list?

If not:

Right click a txt file, choose 'Open With' - Choose Another App

Important - Check the box marked 'Always use this app to open .txt . . .'

If Word is not in the list, scroll to the bottom and click 'More Apps'

Again if Word is not in the list, at the bottom, click 'Look for another app on this PC', then navigate to find the Word executable . . .
