Issue re-configuring Hyper-V VM after restoring PC

So I had a situation where I had to wipe my PC. Files were backed up but when I replaced the HyperV files, one of my VMs is unable to open.I receive the following error: 'MyVM' failed to start. Synthetic SCSI Controller Instance ID ... Failed to Power on with Error "The chain of virtual hard disks is inaccessible. There was an error opening a virtual had disk further up the chain'. For this specific VM, I have multiple snapshots. Looking through them, they all seem to point to the correct parent Snapshot 3 > Snapshot 2 > Snapshot 1 > Parent. One item I noticed is that in snapshot

Unassign Hyper V VM with deleted User account

Hyper V is not assigned based on user accounts.

Hyper V is a server feature that allows you to create VMs but they are not assigned to users.

Can you post a screenshot of what you are referring to?

And then share on a cloud drive and post link here for me to look at?

Also what are the steps you are doing to "assign" the VM to another User?

  3. Move Hyper-V VM Without Reactivating?

According to this (How do I avoid needing to activate Windows when I move a VM? [Hyper-V]) link it is possible to move a Hyper V VM to a new host without having to reactivate the guest OS by exporting
it and importing it. Are there any additional steps I should know about or is it as simple as find the export and then import (on the new host) options/buttons?

Get access to VM machine on Hyper-V from login screen of Host PC

    Hi Steven,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you want to get access to the VM machine on Hyper-V from the login screen of the host PC. However, as you are using Hyper-V and VM, I suggest you to post your query in

    TechNet forums
, where we have support professionals who are well equipped with the knowledge on Hyper-V and VM’s.

    Hope it helps.
