Windows 10: Issue using the camera in desktop apps Teams and Zoom while video conferencing with Teams...

The built-in camera can hardly be used in video conferencing desktop apps Zoom and Teams while it can be used without issue in the same video conferencing applications run in a browser. When trying to activate the camera in video conferencing sessions error messages are shown. Teams: "Your camera isn't working.", Zoom: "Cannot start video. Failed to start the video camera. Please select another video camera in Settings." Teams app camera does not work?

It seems that you are having an issue about Teams camera not working. That is very annoying. I will do my best to help you. Here are some of my suggestions:



If your camera isn’t working in Microsoft Teams, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Check for Updates:
   
   • Make sure you have the latest Windows update or update installed.
     
   • In Teams, go to Settings and Check for updates.
     
2. Close Other Apps and Restart:
   
   • Close any other apps that might be using your camera (like Skype or FaceTime).
     
   • If you’re using an external camera, unplug it and plug it back in.
     
   • Restart your device; sometimes a simple reboot can resolve camera issues.
     
3. Make a Test Call:
   
   • Open Teams, click your profile picture, and go to Settings > Devices.
     
   • Under Audio Settings, select Make a test call.
     
   • Follow the instructions from Test Call Bot to check if your mic, speaker, and camera are working.
     
4. Check App Permissions:
   
   • On Windows, open Settings > Privacy & security > Camera.
     
   • Turn on Let apps access your camera and ensure Microsoft Teams (work or school) is allowed.
     
   • If already enabled, toggle it off and back on.
     
   • Restart your device after making changes.
     
5. Update Drivers:
   
   • If using an external webcam or if your camera isn’t working in Windows 10, check your drivers.
     
   • Follow step-by-step instructions for checking your Windows drivers.

My Webcam is not working with Microsoft Teams

Hi Antonio,

I have gone into settings as you said.

Microsoft Teams is listed under 'Some desktop apps might not appear in the following list or are not affected by this setting' which comes under the 'Allow desktop apps to access your camera'.

The Webcam works with the following apps: -

Windows Camera app

Skype (from Microsoft)

Zoom

I have checked that my Kaspersky software and it is allowing access by Teams to the Webcam. I uninstalled the Webcam driver and then reinstalled it.

As the Webcam works with all other apps then I believe it must be the interaction with Teams and my Webcam.

Please advise next steps please.

 

Zoom, Microsoft TEAMS, Google meet, and any online app not getting permission to use microphone/ camera

Camera and microphone are not connecting when using Zoom, TEAMS, or Google Meet. However, it works when using Skype which is downloaded on the laptop. The default camera app on the laptop has functioning microphone and video.

I have gone through the permissions settings on windows and have made sure that the apps have the relevant permissions. I have also updated the driver. Nothing makes a difference. Cannot use Zoom etc on Chrome, or any other browser.

The Zoom and TEAMS apps do not show up on the list below. And they also do not show on the similar list for Camera settings.

Urgent help needed! Have interviews for job and they're all on Zoom and/ or TEAMS.
