Windows 10: Issue where remote desktop connection to Windows 11 Pro 24H2 cannot be established

Nice to meet you.Currently, when connecting to a remote desktop computer on Windows 11 Pro 24H2, authentication passes but the screen freezes afterwards.Environment- Accounts are managed by Active Directory.- The AD server is Windows Server 2019, and all Windows Updates have been applied.- The remote PC is managed by Active Directory, and the remote connection account is an AD account.- There were no problems when the OS of the remote PC was Windows 11 Pro 23H2.Event- When connecting remotely within the local network, the screen freezes after authentication about once in five times.- When

Issue with remote desktop connection...

I'm currently using Remote Desktop (although Win 11 to Win 11 machines, and there are no issues there. Will also note I had no issues remoting from a Windows 10 to 11 machine or vice versa. This using Windows built-in Remote Desktop Connection app.

 

Remote Desktop connection issue

I have a workstation that used to run on Win 11 Home. I needed Remote Desktop into the workstation. So, I upgraded it with Windows 11 Pro. I followed the instructions on how to set up Remote Desktop. But, the remote laptop cannot connect to the workstation. Since my remote laptop also runs on Windows 11 Pro, I enabled laptop's Remote Desktop. I can connect to the laptop from the workstation. But, I cannot get the other direction to work. Please help.

The error that comes up is:

Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons:

1) Remote access to the server is not enabled

2) The remote computer is turned off

3) The remote computer is not available on the network

Make sure the remote computer is turned on and connected to the network, and that remote access is enabled.

 

Remote Desktop Connection problems


Have you tried Remote Desktop Connection, to connect from your Windows 10 laptop to your Windows 7 desktop? Try it first, post back and tell how it went.

Some additional help because you mentioned you are a remote newbie *Wink. The windows 7 related tutorials from our sister site the Seven Forums:

1. On Windows 7 desktop, set network location to either Home or Work (I recommend Work):

2. On Windows 7 desktop, allow incoming remote connections:

3. On Windows 7 desktop, find out its IP address:

4. On Windows 10 laptop, start the Remote Desktop application and connect to the Windows 7 desktop using the IP address from step 3 above (see Part Three in the tutorial):

   • Notice that although the tutorial is written for Windows 10, it also applies to Windows 7

Try the above, post back how it went.
