    Issue With KVM Switch

(I posted this on another forum & posting here to get a different slant from youse guys!)

I started using a new built computer: Gigabyte AM1M-S2H mobo, XP-Pro 32, barebones. It is on a 'six' Airlink KVM switch.
The problem is, when I turn it off, it is still getting (?) power from psu (?) and this keeps power(?) to kvm when new comp is off. I must press kvm's switch to whichever other computer before powering it up, or it 'thinks' there is no kbd or mouse is connected. Its an aggravation!

This happens also with a newer Giga- F2A88X-D3H mobo.

I cant find any settings in bios to stop this, or possibly dont understand particular setting for this.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    -corne-

(All the computers are plugged into kvm through 'd-sub' & to several different monitors through dvi/hdmi. This 'system' has worked for years, just not with these new giga mobo's)

KVM Switch disconnects from a port

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that your second computer doesn’t respond to the Keyboard and Mouse connected to KVM switch. I’ll help you with this issue.

    However, please let us know:

    • Does this issue occur if you connect computer 1 to the port 2 of KVM switch?
    • Are you aware of any changes made to the computer prior to this issue?

I suggest you to refer the steps mentioned below and check if that makes a difference:

    1. Press Windows Logo key + X, and select
      Device Manager.
    2. Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
    3. Right click on the USB Root Hub, and select
      Properties.
    4. Now, go to Power Management tab.
    5. Clear the checkbox for Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
    6. Click on OK.

You can also refer to the FAQ section from the link:

Let us know how it goes.

    Issue with a KVM switch

    KVM switch with win 10

I don't think it is Windows 10 caused the issues but the design concept of the KVM switches with those cases. I had using ConnectPRO Plus serial KVM switches with Windows 10 systems for a long time, and I never experienced the resolutions resizing issues.

Most of KVM switches in market are designed with emulation-base technology in devices sharing including for sharing the monitor, so when the more advanced OS, like Windows 10, is upgraded to those emulation-base KVM switch will have difficult in emulating
/fitting the timing to the systems upgrade to Windows 10 which monitoring the I/O hot-plug and connected devices' status all the time.

I don't like to give suggestion of just changing the KVM switch and find a KVM switch based on DDM technology, but looks like there is no other solution then using more advanced KVM switches based on the DDM technology (Dynamic Device Mapping). Of you
may want to using an EDID emulator putting it between each connected PC/system and your old KVM switch to keep feeding the EDID of your monitor to the Windows 10 PC/system.
