Windows 10: Issue with gaming PC pops up after 2 years of no issues.

I have had my PC for 2 years and around I think Feb. 11 - Feb. 15 this year I started having this issue where when I am gaming my pc will freeze and the audio distorts and my PC restarts, but it doesn't show the restarting screen it just restarts. When I check event viewer I used to see only one error that looks like this: Event ID 18 WHEA logger A fatal hardware error has occurred. Reported by component: Processor Core Error Source: Machine Check Exception Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error Processor APIC ID: 2 And each time I get it the "APIC ID:" is different. now I get two of those errors b

• Is this issue specific to any game?

Audio issues when playing games (crackling/popping)

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

We appreciate for trying the few of the troubleshooting steps.

1) Which version of DirectX is installed in the PC?

Since the issue is occurring only while playing games, I would suggest you to install the graphic drivers in compatibility mode.

Now download the drivers the manufacturer website and install it in Windows 8.1 compatibility mode. Follow the steps provided below to install the drivers in compatibility mode:

• Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’.
• Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select Windows 8.1 operating system from the drop down.
• Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

I also recommend you to update the latest version of Direct X and run the hardware an device troubleshooter.

Run hardware troubleshooter and check if it helps.

• Type Troubleshooting in search box and open it.
• Click on Hardware and Sound
  
• Click on Hardware and Devices.
  
• Follow the instruction.
