Hello,I encountered a problem with my PC running Windows. After not using it for two days, I started it up and began playing Valorant. Within two minutes, the entire system lagged, and the PC restarted automatically. It continued to restart repeatedly until I turned off the power supply. When I attempted to boot it up again, I was met with various random Blue Screens of Death BSODs each time. In response, I enabled Memory Integrity and performed a full system scan, which identified and removed a Trojan. However, since removing the Trojan, I've been experiencing an issue with Windows Offline Sc

    Random restarts

when you start the computer up press F8 repeatedly until you get a list of how to start windows, choose do not automatically restart on system failure. if your getting bsod's list what your getting here so we can further help you. IF the system is not getting bsod's and still restarting as you say then i would look into getting a line conditioner for your computer as you might be having power issues.

Encountering Random BSODs During General Use, system scans (sfc /scannow and DISM) , Gaming, and System Scans AND Issues with Windows Defender Offline Scans.

WARNING; you might get a headache.

    Hello,

I recently upgraded my CPU from an i7 12700K to an i9 14900KF and had to perform a clean install of Windows 11 due to boot issues.

However, I'm now facing multiple recurring problems with my PC, including random BSODs, problems with system scans (sfc /scannow and DISM) , AND Windows Defender Offline Scan.

    Issues:

Random BSODs (varying error codes) During General Use and Gaming:

    • Encountering BSODs randomly while using the PC, including when playing games on Steam.
    • Encountering BSODs randomly while video editing (Adobe).
    • These crashes occur intermittently and do not show a consistent pattern.
    • Last error code I took a picture of was when I was playing a Steam game
    • Error code: DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER

    BSODs During System Scans:

    • Running the System File Checker (sfc /scannow) results in a BSOD about 50% of the time.
    • Similarly, attempting DISM scan (DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth) also leads to a BSOD in roughly half of the attempts.
    • The 50% of the time the scans do complete, they report no errors/corruptions.
    • last BSOD error code I encountered running sfc /scannow was SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION.

Windows Defender Offline Scan Booting into WinRE:

    • Attempting to perform a Windows Defender Offline scan doesn't initiate the scan. Instead, my PC boots into the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE).

? Chrome crashed several times writing this, i'm not sure why, it doesn't seem to continue happening?

    Tried:

    TRIED Windows Repair Upgrade: Unsuccessful

Method Followed: I followed the instructions outlined in the Microsoft community guide for performing a Windows Repair Upgrade. My experience was as follows:

    1st & 2nd Attempts:

    • Executed the steps as per the guide.
    • After the first reboot, the system simply loaded to my desktop without any changes or further setup processes. There was no indication of the upgrade process continuing, such as the "This Might Take Several Minutes" screen.
    • No additional reboots occurred; it was as if the computer had just performed a normal restart.
    3rd Attempt:

    • Followed the guide up to the final step before the first reboot.
    • During this stage

      my computer encountered a BSOD.
    • BSOD Error Code: REGISTRY_FILTER_DEVICE_EXCEPTION.

    Other troubleshooting Steps Taken:

    • Ensured all Windows updates are installed.
    • Ran DISM and CHKDSK tools in an attempt to repair system files.
    • Accessed Safe Mode via alternative methods after failing to find the "Startup Settings" option in Recovery [ANOTHER ISSUE].
    • In Safe Mode, tried running sfc /scannow and virus scans for further diagnostics.
    • NO LUCK

    Random Restarts, No BSOD

He mentioned that he had done that above. Also I provided a BSOD details app. There were no BSODs to report.
