Windows 10: Issue with random letters being typed when using Search

There seems to be a problem with the "language" setting on my HP All In One Desktop computer. I constantly have to reset the English language. I have done this in settings many times, had an HP assistant attempt it for me as well but to no avail. This is a new computer as of December 2023 and it runs Windows 11. I have exhausted all the suggestions I have found online with no luck. I do not believe it is the keyboard as when I type the same letter repeatedly, it types a different letter each time and it only seems to occur when using "search". If anyone can help it would be greatly apprec

Keyboard typing random letters

I am running Windows 10 build 18945 and random applications (most of them) are getting typed in random letters. I have found many things saying check your input language but i only have one that is English (US).

And the random letter a key will type is not always the same. I can hold down 'a' for instance and it'll type a series of numbers and letters. So it is not consistent

Example, copy and pasted holding down 'a'

One of the only applications that correctly recognizes the input is Firefox

Pretty sure it isn't a hardware issue, because it is not in all applications.

This is an integrated keyboard in the Lenovo ThinkPad T430s

It also seems to be intermittent

EDIT If i remember right, this started around disabling credential and device guard (I can't use any emulator/virtualization with them on because the virtualization is then exclsuively used by Hyper-V, and i needed to run Intel HAXM)

I'm Jen a Microsoft customer like you and an Independent Advisor here to help. Here are the things that you can do to troubleshoot Windows search.

Restart Windows search service

- Press the Windows button and letter R

- Type Services.msc in the Run dialog box

- Scroll down from the list and locate Windows search

- Right-click on it and select Restart

- Restart the computer and check if Windows search is working

You can also check this article and perform the suggested troubleshooting steps. Do the troubleshooting steps one by one and check if it fixes the issue.

When using and typing into windows explorer search ,random letters, numbers and symbols are showing.

When using and typing into windows explorer search ,random letters, numbers and symbols are showing. Keyboard works fine in all apps and browsers. When I use an app or browser then return to windows explorer search it will be correct for a couple of minutes before not working again. If I go to the search and touch the "A" key on my keyboard 5 times in a row I will get 5 random letters, numbers or symbols rather than "A".

I am using a brand new 10 day old Dell Inspiron laptop which when received I updated from Windows 10 to Windows 11. It is fully updated with no outstanding updates or optional updates.
