Windows 10: Issue with receiving verification code email from Microsoft

I want to change my MS account password but every time I try to, the system wants me enter a verification code. Asking MS to send me an email has failed - it doesn't arrive. I can't use my Authenticator App because, to set it up I need a verification code did someone mention Catch 22?.I had a webchat with one of the MS agents but he wasn't helpful , telling me there was an issue with the system and that it will be rectified in a few hours. 48 hours later, it hasn't worked. In any case the issue seems to be longstanding. I dread to think what I'll do if my account gets hacked and I need a ver

• Where exactly do you get the prompt/notification to verify the email address?
  
• How are you trying to verify the email?
  

However, you can try using other options to request the verification code i.e. requesting the code over a call or as a text to your phone number and see if that helps in resolving the issue.

Did not receive the Microsoft Account Verification Code

I'm Jen, I'm also an Outlook account user just like you. I'm not working for Microsoft but I'd be happy to help you figure this out.

I understand you're not receiving a verification code for your Microsoft account. If your security info's are up to date, you may be experiencing delays receiving the code which I have also experienced before. But if you have already waited too long and have made a couple of attempts, I suggest following the suggested steps in the "Troubleshooting verification code issues" section on the support page below.
