Windows 10: Issues after windows update?

Hi, was wondering if anyone could help with some issues I've been having for the last week or so after finally downloading an overdue update. Since updating it I've noticed two main problems with my laptop, mainly surrounding the settings:Firstly, the update deleted my lock screen/background images which at first glance is fine assuming I would just immediately go and change it in settings to fix it; leading to the second issue. When going into settings, I'm met with a never-ending loading screen, stopping me from changing anything within the laptop's settings, only displaying a blank screen

Definitely not an issue with the Windows Servers as I just re-installed yesterday and got all my updates.

It works, but I still need to fix it so that way I dont have to plug computers directly to the modem to get windows update to work. It was also blocking me from installing directx.

If your wireless router has a built in firewall maybe it's somehow set to block the ports that Windows updates use?

I'd also suggest if it works with it being directly connected then you could try resetting your router to see if this fixes the issue.
