Windows 10: Issues getting windows 10 reinstalled, shows 2 operating systems

Okay computer in question was having some issues, seemed to have borrowed down and repaired by updating bios so now I'd like to put windows 10 back on the system but I seem to have a problem.

i boot the disc no problem at all, click install and selected the hard drive, I hit to format it before hand for a clean install and according the list it appears to have worked as the drive shows its self to be empty. The installation seems to go as it should, it reaches the end and does the reboot but when it goes to start up it shows 2 operating systems to choose from and neither will load.

no matter which one you pick it shows the spinning dots for about 5 minutes and then just reboots its self.

how can I get this thing empty and cooperative? I'd like to get the OS installed and functional asap as its my brothers computer and he's been waiting to use it for days already

Before proceeding further I would like to know the below information.

  Have you installed any Operating system on Volume 3?
  
• 
  Have you installed Windows 10 by performing clean installation, or with the dual boot?
  
• 
  Let us know, if you are able to boot into both the Operating system on Volume 3 and Volume 5?
  
• 
  If you don’t want Volume 3 to be booted, then you may go ahead and format the Volume 3.
  

Note: If there is any important data on Volume 3 then, request you to take the backup and then format.

Reinstalled windows 10 now I've got 2 operating systems

I did check those places for my files. And yes I did what you said and can see where I could delete the other operating system, but I dont want to yet in case I figure out how to restore it with my files. At this point the old operating system is inoperable.

Assuming you have all your files backed up to external media. During the install, select custom install. The delete all the partitions so there is only one large unallocated space. Then install to that space. Windows will create any and all partitions it needs automatically.

First I would head to MS and use the Media creation tool to create a USB key. Outlined in tutorial below.

I would then boot from key and instead of formatting delete all the existing partitions on boot drive. Then let Windows handle the creation of partitions.

I assume this machine boots UEFI and you did not change the boot drive to MBR. It needs to be GPT for UEFI.

If you did change to MBR then you need to change it back. A quick and simple way to clean boot drive and set to GPT.

Boot from the new USB key you created. Very first screen hit shift + F10 to get command prompt. Enter these commands.

diskpart
List disk
select disk 0 (ensure zero is where you want to install)
clean
Convert gpt (if required for UEFI)
exit
exit

Continue on with the install, no formatting. Here is the tutorial. It suggests Secure Boot and Fast boot be disable in BIOS.

Again I will assume this machine was booting UEFI before so the BIOS settings for UEFI should already be set.
