Windows 10: Issues reactivating Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview.

I previously had 10 year old computer that I built my self that had a retail edition of Windows 7 Pro, that I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro, again retail, then 8.1. When Windows 10 came out, I took advantage of the free upgrade program, and upgraded to Windows 10 Pro. I have been running the same "install" for many many years. After some time on Windows 10, I joined the Insider Preview program, specifically the dev ring.


I replaced the motherboard and CPU because I was beginning to encounter issues. When I put my current drive in the new computer Windows was not activated. I attempted to run the troubleshooter, and select "I changed hardware on this device recently", to have the the troubleshooter tell me it was unable to activate windows as it was unable to find any devices linked to my account that can be used for reactivating device I am using right now. When I click "See other devices linked to your Microsoft account", my original device is not listed, only my other devices which are all Windows 10 Home.


Before I started this process, I did confirm that the activation screen said that I had a digital license linked to my Microsoft account. When I log into accounts.microsoft.com/account I can see two devices listed with the same name, one with my old config, and one with my new config. If the old device was digitally licensed, why can I not transfer the license? I reached out to MS support and they refused to do anything with out my 8 key. Am I really expected to keep a key that is around 8 years old? I thought that was the purpose of the digital license being linked to the MS account. When I brought up the point about having upgraded to Windows 10 nearly 6 years ago, I was told that was impossible, that the upgrade program only began 3 years ago...

Windows 8.1 pro to windows 10 pro/insider preview upgrade

I've noticed that, after the upgrade is downloaded, the main page of windows update displays Windows 10 pro insider preview. On all other pages, including list of past failed upgrade attempts, the update is displayed as Windows 10 pro. Which version of Windows
am I getting?

I'd rather not go to the insider program.

Windows 10 Activation (Insider)

Hi!

I signed up in the windows insider program and got windows 10 free - the windows 10 insider preview updated to windows 10 pro.
Today i got another SSD and did a raid 0 on my system forcing me to do a clean install of windows but now it wont activate anymore.
Signing in with my microsoft account that was linked to the insider program didnt help.
Maybe i got this problem since i quit the insider program for several days and signed up again after i found out that my win 10 wont activate anymore.
Any ideas how to fix it?

Windows 10 Activation (Insider)

I bought Windows 7 Pro OEM key from G2Play.net for 12€ to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro - worked like a charm but be advised if you buy a OEM key you can not download the Win 7 iso from microsoft and have to get it elsewhere.
