Windows 10: Issues Selecting Default App

Hello,


I've been looking online and can't find anything, so I figured I'd make a post. I just installed Win 10 Pro on my work laptop (ssd died so I needed a replacement) and I noticed that all the files I put on my computer were trying to save as Excel files, which I thought was weird. I tried to change the file type to the file type the file actually is, and it only gave one option, Excel. I'm only adding that in because it might help, the main issue is no matter how I go about it, I can't select a default app for opening .CSV files, which is what I primarily work with. I've tried right clicking the file and clicking "opening with" and checking the box to always open with said app, that doesn't work. I've tried going into the properties of the .CSV file and changing what it's opened with there, doesn't work and last but not least, the wonderful "Choose default apps by file types" MS threw into Win 10, also doesn't work. I should also note, it's ONLY .CSV files that won't accept a default app.


I'm at a loss here, if anyone has any suggestions, please send them my way. I've been fighting with this for hours...

Can't Select Photoshop as a Default App


Hi
I've just downloaded Photoshop CC2018 and tried to make it the default photo viewer, but it does not appear in the list of apps that I can select from. Have also tried doing the same for opening .jpg files, but just the same, no Photoshop! I have rebooted the system a couple of times but it makes no difference.

Any suggestions?

Issue with default apps

We appreciate you for being part of Windows 10 and sorry for the delay in response.

Try the steps and check if it helps.

Step 1:

• Open Start menu, type change default app for each file type in search bar and open it.
• Here you can match the Name and App which you want to use and try to click on App which you want and make it as default.

Step 2:

• Open the File location (file which you want to make the Music bee as default player).
• Right click on any music file (Any music file type mp3/any other format which you wish) and select
  open with from the list and click on Choose default program.
• Select the Music bee app and make it as default player.

If you still face the same issue, the file type which you are trying to set Music bee as default player may not have supporting format. You may check with the Music bee app publisher website to check for the supported file formats.

Cannot set "Calendar" as default app

I would suggest you to try the below steps and check whether you are able to make the Calendar as default.

• Go to Settings.
• Click on System.
• Select Default apps from the left pane.
• Click on Choose default app by protocol at the bottom.
• Select the Calendar and choose an app.
