Windows 10: Issues with driver update and now app won't open

    Basically whenever Windows has an update and my computer hasn't installed it yet, I typically know because my Origin app and Sims 4 won't open. So then I know to update everything and I'm good to go. Well with the most recent update there was a driver I couldn't install. I got the message "A current driver on your PC may be better than the driver we're trying to install. We'll keep trying to install." The driver in question is: "Intel Corporation - Display - 26.20.100.7323". I hid it through a troubleshooter but now my app still won't open despite when I check my updates, everything is "updated". What do I do?

    Hello Adam,

    This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. Issues with driver update and now app won't open :)

    In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

    I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better.

    • What exactly do you mean when you say "my email app opened but now will not"?
    • Are you getting any error message or error code when you launch the app?
    • Did you make any recent changes to your computer?
    • What are the troubleshooting steps that you have perform to resolve the issue?
    As of now, I would suggest that you run the inbuilt Windows App Troubleshooter and check. To do so follow the steps mentioned below:

    Steps-


    • On the search bar, type “Troubleshoot”
      and press Enter.

    • Then click on the “View All” option located on the left menu pane.

    • Then locate “Windows Store App”, click on it and run the troubleshooter.

    I did that to no avail, then I ran WSReset.exe; now I'm good on all 3, Mail, Calendar and People! *Confused
    Go figure!
