Windows 10: Issues with mic/ sound

Sent my PC in to get fixed, and it came back but the mic and sound on it is all janky.. Right now im having issues with the internal microphone not working, the PC is just not detecting any sound, and nobody can hear me over zoom or discord or anything. However it fixes if i change input to my earbuds it fixes the mic issue, but it makes this awful crackling or laggy sound.all i could really find was thisIf i unplug headphones the internal mic still does not work.

The issue could be because of the internal mic picking up sound even when the external device is pluuged in. If you have the RealTek HD Audi Manager installed on the machine, I would suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works for
you.

• Open RealTek HD Audio Manager and go to the
  Advanced tab.
  
• Check the boxes Separate all input jacks as independent input devices
  and Mute the internal output device, when external headphone is plugged in,
  and hit OK.
  
• Exit RealTek HD Audio Manager, restart the machine and see if the issue persists.

Headset mic not working

Hi,

Thanks for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

This might occur when some of the mic setting got corrupted.

I would suggest you to try running Recording audio troubleshooter.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Type Troubleshooting in the Search area on the taskbar and select
  Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Select Hardware and Sound.
  
• 
  Select Recording Audio under
  Sound and follow the on screen.

Freezing & Mic Issues

To help you troubleshoot issues with mic, we suggest that you uninstall and reinstall sound drivers. To that, follow the steps below:

• In Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click
  Device Manager.
• Expand Device Manager.
• Right click on Sound, and select Uninstall.
• Restart your computer.
• Windows will automatically install sound drivers.
