Windows 10: Issues with sound and Mic after update

I'm part of an organization where some users are encountering issues with their Asus Expertbook Model: B1400C after a recent update to Windows 11 Pro 23H2. Specifically, the sound and mic functions are no longer working. Despite trying various troubleshooting steps like System Restore, Driver Uninstall/Rollback, and reinstalling sound drivers, the problem persists. Has anyone else faced this issue and found a solution that works?

Freezing & Mic Issues

Hi,

The issue you're experiencing on freezing system might be due to software conflict. to help you resolve the issue, to isolate the issue, we suggest that you perform clean boot.
A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows 10. Refer to the article

Note: Please go through the section: Reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting of the KB article to boot the computer in normal startup after fixing the issue.

To help you troubleshoot issues with mic, we suggest that you uninstall and reinstall sound drivers. To that, follow the steps below:

• In Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click
  Device Manager.
• Expand Device Manager.
• Right click on Sound, and select Uninstall.
• Restart your computer.
• Windows will automatically install sound drivers.

Muted mic picking up sound in game

The issue could be because of the internal mic picking up sound even when the external device is pluuged in. If you have the RealTek HD Audi Manager installed on the machine, I would suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works for
you.

• Open RealTek HD Audio Manager and go to the
  Advanced tab.
  
• Check the boxes Separate all input jacks as independent input devices
  and Mute the internal output device, when external headphone is plugged in,
  and hit OK.
  
• Exit RealTek HD Audio Manager, restart the machine and see if the issue persists.

• Were there any changes made on your computer prior to the issue (e.g., updates, software installation)?
• When did the issue first begin?
• To make sure that we have not missed on anything, what troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

This issue might occur due to a sound card issue. As an initial troubleshooting, we suggest that you try updating your sound card driver to resolve it.
