  1. Issues with upgrading from Windows 10 Home to Pro and constant BSOD

    Hello,

This issue may only be affecting me but I have been having constant BSODs, mainly for MEMORY_MANAGEMENT and KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE, with my computer for about 2 months now. I have also been wanting to buy Windows 10 Pro and thought this was the perfect time, it may not solve the problem but I have it anyway. However, I purchased it from the MS store and now it says 'install', I click that and it says 'Windows upgrade falied. Error Code: 0x80073701'. I've searched across the web for the error code 0x80073701 and it all says to use an administrative command prompt and run sfc /scannow and chkdsk /r yet none of those do anything. There are also websites saying run dism but this comes back failing saying 'The name of an attribute in an identity is not within the legal range.'

I have attempted to update to the latest optional update but that doesn't work it just fails.

I have ran Windows update troubleshooters which don't do anything.

I have gone as far as to attempt to restore Windows with installation media which doesn't work as well as reset my PC and wipe it which also doesn't work.

I have ran a scan with the memory management tool and it says there is an issue but when I swap out the RAM it still comes back with problems were found.

Does anyone know a way to fix this?

    Thanks!

    :)

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.

KernelBase.dll is broken constant BSOD's constant game crashing.

    Hi Darry,

User Profile corruption is one of the possible reasons why you are experiencing constant BSOD's on your computer. You mentioned that you ran the
System File Checker (SFC) tool, but is still getting a stop code. To further troubleshoot the issue, we suggest that you create a new User Profile and check if the issue persists.

To create a user profile, follow these steps:

    • Go to Settings. Click Accounts.
    • Select Family & other people.
    • Select the Add someone else to this PC tab.
    • Name the user as Test.
    • Leave the password field blank.
    • Hit Next.
    • Sign in as Test user.

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

i've seen this when the stock USB drivers went kaput. Only ever seen it once - i used a PCI USB 2.0 card and connected the mouse and keyboard to that, and manually updated the USB 2/USB 3 drivers.
